ANGES TERRESTRES BOOKApril 2 2014

We would like to thank Mr. Joseph Kerba, a childcare volunteer at the Centre de Rehabilitation Marie Enfant (CRME) and at the neonatal department of the CHU Sainte-Justine Hospital as well as the author of Anges Terrestres (Earthly Angels). From the proceeds of the sale of his book, Mr. Kerba recently donated $5,772 to the Fondation Mélio.

In his book, Mr. Kerba gives us an account of his own experience and shares testimonials of several parents, grandparents and other caretakers of children with disabilities. Mr. Kerba’s book is filled with touching stories of courage and love as well as various photos. The introduction to the book is the work of our national tenor Marc Hervieux, and includes a note by Jean Beliveau, the great Number 4 of the Montreal Canadiens.

Having a disabled child is not an easy experience. However, it is an experience that leads to exceptional determination, remarkable courage and unparalleled love.

You can purchase the Anges Terrestres book online via the Mélio Store for only $25 www.fondation-melio.org/ website.

Please note that Joseph Kerba will be donating all of his copyright royalties to the Fondation Mélio while the publisher will be donating one dollar per book sold. Each book represents an important donation for the Fondation. Therefore, we hope that many of you will visit our online store and buy the Anges Terrestres book. By doing so, you will be helping us care for the 5000 children cared for annually CRME.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO SIMONE!November 6 2013

We would like to thank Simone Gauthier, the daughter of Mrs. Katherine Beauregard who is a psychologist for the Musculoskeletal Amputee Program at the CRME, who gave $20 to the Fondation. 8 year old Simone raised the funds by making and selling bookmarks.

Every dollar raised by Simone will allow the Fondation Mélio to continue its mission of helping the 5000 children with locomotor skill and language impairments cared for annually at the CRME as well as their families.

Simone sent us this great picture. She is accompanied by her sister Flore.

A FIRST IN QUEBEC!September 26 2013

The Fondation Mélio, Give so that They May Receive!

A first in Québec, in collaboration with Cale System, the Fondation Mélio has installed its new Parcodons at both entrances of the CRME. Both donation meters are dressed in the Foundations colors.

By doing so, we aim to encourage employees, parents and visitors to donate and help the Fondation improve the quality of life of 5,000 children with locomotor skill and language impairments cared for at the CRME. Each donation will help financially support the specialized and ultra-specialized programs of the CRME.

"After all, allowing children to grow up healthy also promotes their autonomy."  We therefore rely on the support of all to help us provide the needed medical and therapeutic resources as well as cutting edge technologies for these children so that they may enjoy life fully.

AN ADVENTURE FLAVOURED COFFEEMay 27 2013

For the past 7 years, Le Café de La Compagnie des Mers du Sud has been raising funds for the Fondation Mélio. So far, nearly $ 150,000 has been donated to the Fondation. Le Café de La Compagnie des Mers du Sud has been donating one dollar from the sale of certain of its products and holding fundraising events in its Le Café de La Compagnie des Mers du Sud client stores.

A challenge and a new fundraiser: The crossing of the Atlantic. This year, Mr. Pierre de Ruelle, the president of Le Café de La Compagnie des Mers du Sud, will set sail aboard the War Eagle, a quick and robust Serendipity ship of 43 feet. Mr. de Ruelle will embark on his 11th solo crossing of the Atlantic Ocean, a crossing that will serve as the ultimate fundraising event for the Fondation Mélio.

His adventure will begin in St. John's, Newfoundland on June 1st, 2013. He is scheduled to reach the European shore on June 25th, 2013 in Brest, France. Mr. de Ruelle will return during the first week of July via Plymouth (England) and then travel east, arriving in Newport Rhode Island (USA) in late July. Once completed, Mr. de Ruelle will have sailed some 5,000 nautical miles which is equivalent to approximately 8,000 km. For those familiar with this race, this is the same route as the renowned Artemis Transat race. Pierre de Ruelle will therefore be able to compete with the Transat’s official racers and measure his performance on a personal level.

The fundraiser will consist of three components:

The first phase has already been launched. Le Café de La Compagnie des Mers du Sud donates $ 1 to the Fondation Melio, from the sale of certain products sold at IGA and Metro.

For the second component of the fundraiser, Le Café de La Compagnie des Mers du Sud will donate to the Fondation Mélio $0.25 per pound of coffee sold in its outlets.

Finally, for the third component of the fundraiser, participating stores will be asked to donate a certain amount of their profits from the sale of Le Café de La Compagnie des Mers du Sud throughout the duration of the Atlantic crossing.

Follow this new adventure on Le Café de La Compagnie des Mers du Sud’s website (www.cafesmersdusud.com/nouvelles.htm) and on our website.
